HEC Makes GRE/HAT Test Mandatory for MPhil & PhD Admissions Fall 2026 in Pakistan

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has issued an important notification regarding MPhil and PhD admissions for Fall 2026. According to the latest policy update, all students seeking admission in Level 7 (MS/MPhil) and Level 8 (PhD) programs will now be required to pass GRE/HAT General or relevant subject tests conducted through HEC’s Education Testing Council (ETC).
The new policy will apply to both public and private universities across Pakistan and aims to improve transparency, standardization and merit-based admissions in higher education institutions.
